Before earning their wings as elite Allied fighter pilots in World War II, student aviators first had to master the challenges of advanced flight training. The rugged AT-6 Texan was instrumental in preparing them—teaching discipline, respect for the aircraft, and how to manage the quirks of high-performance fighters. Extensively flown by U.S. Navy pilots under the SNJ designation, the AT-6 remains active today, with hundreds still in the air, fulfilling roles far beyond its original training purpose.

The E-flite SNJ-5/AT-6 Texan 1.5m pays tribute to this often-overlooked warbird. It features a refined power system compatible with both 3S and 4S LiPo batteries, anchored by a Spektrum Avian 70A Smart Lite ESC. The BNF Basic version is equipped with a telemetry-enabled AR631+ receiver, enhanced with AS3X+® stabilization and optional SAFE® Select technology—making it easier than ever for pilots of varying skill levels to experience and enjoy this historic aircraft.

E-flite has refined the SNJ-5/AT-6 Texan 1.5m to deliver its most capable and pilot-friendly scale replica of the iconic trainer to date. Finished at the factory in a striking livery inspired by the SNJ-5 “101” — still flown today by the High Sky Wing of the Commemorative Air Force in Midland, Texas — this model captures the spirit of the original with impressive attention to detail. Features include molded panel lines, a realistic radial engine replica, a fully detailed cockpit with pilot figure, functional flaps, and electric retracts for an authentic flight experience.

Under the cowl, an upgraded power system supports both 3S and 4S 2200–4000mAh LiPo batteries and is paired with a 70A Spektrum Avian Smart Lite ESC.
