The F/A-18, also known as the "Hornet," is a supersonic third-generation fighter and attack aircraft developed by McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) for the U.S. Navy. Available in both single-seat and two-seat versions, it features foldable wings and is powered by two turbojet engines. This versatile aircraft, deployed on aircraft carriers, is the first in the U.S. military to serve both as a fighter and a ground attack aircraft, offering exceptional capabilities in air-to-air, air-to-ground, and air-to-sea missions. As the primary combat aircraft of the Navy, it provides both maritime air defense and ground attack capabilities. The prototype made its first flight on June 9, 1974, and the aircraft entered service in 1983. After the retirement of the F-14 on June 28, 2006, the F/A-18 became the only fighter deployed on U.S. aircraft carriers.

FMS, with over ten years of experience in designing 64mm electric turbine jets, has developed models for the F-15, F-16, F-35, and F/A-18, which are popular among model enthusiasts worldwide. In 2018, the company undertook a complete revision of its 64mm turbine models, from materials to structure, resulting in the V2 range, which became a benchmark in the field of turbine jets for beginners. In 2023, FMS launched an ambitious project by designing an entirely new 64mm F/A-18 model, with larger dimensions, smoother contours, and more realistic details, paying tribute to this iconic multirole aircraft.

The updated version of the F/A-18 features a new mold, offering larger dimensions, smoother shapes, and finer details for enhanced realism. The CNC-machined front landing gear, dressed in plastic, ensures a high level of realism and excellent shock absorption. The main landing gear is made from steel wire covered with plastic, combining strength and realism. Navigation lights have been added to the tips of the wings to enhance the visual effect in flight. Five 9-gram digital servos control the ailerons, nose wheel, and elevator, providing precise handling and faithfully replicating the maneuvers of real jets. The wings and stabilizers are reinforced with tubes to prevent flexing or deformation during aggressive flight maneuvers.

The F/A-18 is equipped with a 64mm 12-blade turbine, a 2840-Kv3150 brushless motor, and a 40A controller. Five 9g digital servos precisely manage the commands from the receiver, ensuring optimal flight stability at both high and low speeds, and assisting beginners in learning jet piloting.
